the friday five:

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?

working to build a good, solid foundation for a relationship with my honey. he and i are really compatible... most of the time. and it's felt really good working thru a few hard issues so that we can focus on the good bits.

also, starting to learn what it means to be a parent-type person. while that's a separate relationship in its own right, it's a big part of building a great relationship with my sweetie.

2. What was your biggest disappointment?

not being more patient, with others and myself.

3. What do you hope the new year brings?

wonderful things for all the people i love.

4. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions? If yes, what will they be?

nope. i've talked about this before: New Year is a fairly arbitrary point in time to make a resolution. yes, change of year, turning of the calendar, solstice, cleaning house, yadda yadda... sometimes, it has been the right point for me to make a resolution. but mostly, it seems to be someone else's idea of obligation.

5. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?

heading downtown to take Little Monkey Boy to the First Night parade and early fireworks, then heading to Chica Beanie's parents for some silly games and companionship.

happy holidays, everyone.

i've just about gotten things gotten/wrapped/sorted, and worked out schedules for the next few days; looks like we'll get to see most everyone in a reasonable sort of way. (as for the unreasonable ways... well. ;) ) haven't completely lost my mind yet. oh, hush, you. ;)

it seems things go in cycles - some years, i have time to print my own wrapping paper and make gifts from scratch, other years (like this one), things are a little less Martha Stewart-y. and it always takes until about this point, where things are settled in to what they'll be, that i can see that it doesn't make much difference one way or the other, because i'll still get to see the people i love.

may you have a wonderful holiday, however you celebrate this turning of the year.
